Not Attending Madrasah and Skipping Fees

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته 

Hope Mufti Saheb is well.

Maaf but I find myself in a tight situation. Alhamdulillah I have a small madrasah and it’s my source of income as well. That is not my reason for having it but Alhamdulillah , Allah has made it a means.

Today a parent messages me saying this 

“Slmz hope u well🌸

Hubby and i discussed and we thinking that it will be quite hectic to bring  and fetch girls during ramadan. Can they start again after eid please. 

Is it ok if we continue  their fees from next month as they will attend 1 week in march and skip 1 week in april.”

I am at such a loss for words how do I respond? Firstly, they are mainly doing hifdh and such a long break would be detrimental especially as they have shown negligence when given weekends or holidays.

Secondly, this should have been discussed with me as well and I would have formed some leniency with times etc if it would be hectic for them. 

Indeed however school and work for the family would continue as usual.

Thirdly, I have neccessary debts to pay and this is going to set me really back as I can only take a limited amount of students.

Maaf for this lengthy message..

I would appreciate if Mufti Saheb could please advise me exactly how I should respond to the parents and in what way, a meeting or text.

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Respected Sister,

The situation you have described is unfortunate.

We advise you to explain to the parents, with wisdom, the importance of consistency within the Ḥifẓ journey. You may procure the book ‘Earning Your Crown – A Ḥifẓ Manual for Parents’ and gift it to them. This book provides guidelines for both parents and children on the Ḥifẓ journey.

In principle, since the parents have enrolled the children at your institute, they will be liable to pay the fees whether they come to Madrasah or not – as long as you provide the service offered.

We suggest that the above be included in the enrolment form to avoid any disagreements in the future.

 ثم لعقد الإجارة مناسبة خاصة بفصل الصدقة من حيث إنهما يقعان لازمين
